Last night the piano teacher had a few students come to her studio and play.

West played In The Meadow by Lichner. Ben played the first movement of the Grieg Piano Concerto (he has not had time to get it to the level he’d like for a regular recital). Ben and another student, Robin, also played all of Schumann’s Scenes from Childhood. They shared out the 13 scenes between them. Ben and Robin only had a week to learn two of them each because their teacher found out a week ago that the students she assigned four of them to couldn’t come.

Here are recordings of West playing her piece and Ben playing the first movement of the Grieg and Rocking Horse and Almost Too Serious from Scenes from Childhood. (The Grieg is missing the first measure or so) Angeal Wright, Ben’s piano teacher, is playing the Grieg accompaniment.
