…no, not to play in the game but at the beginning of it!

Evidently the Cubs are picking 20 groups to sing/play the Star Spangled Banner at the beginning of a game next season.

Ben and West’s violin teacher Michael Hining has arranged it for voice and all his string players (I’m included since I also play in his group The Windy City String Ensemble). Last night we were rehearsing and videotaping it in preparation for sending in our entry.

Some people were going to wear cubs hats while we played but then it was pointed out that it’s disrespectful to wear hats while singing The National Anthem. Hearing things like that reminds me that I still don’t feel very American inside, in spite of living here for over 20 years – because I don’t get that at all.
