…here in the US, at least, since the date is written 3/14. Ben is wearing his “As easy as Pi” T-shirt in honor of the day (the mathcounts chapter winners were given these T-shirts). Esther has posted about Pi day on her blog and she told me she took her book “The joy of Pi” to school to read today.
It was an amazingly gorgeous day yesterday – sunny and low 70s. I think it set a record high for March 13. I went for a walk with my neighbor so we could chat – we decided to walk rather than sit inside and talk over coffee, since it was such wonderful weather. It’s finally getting warmer here, after weeks with snow on the ground and temperatures barely above or not even above freezing at the ‘warmest’ part of the day. Ben came third in the eight grade individual contest at IMSA (the Illinois Math and Science Academy) on Wednesday (his school’s math team page has been updated to reflect IMSA and Saturday’s state math contest). This was an event involving several local schools.
