I see this and I can’t help but wndoer, with all the scientific evidence that is clearly provided about the intense psychological ramifications, both positive and negative, of being pregnant and giving birth, how can “pro-life” idiots to claim that it is safe, healthy or normal for a thirteen year old, or indeed any woman who has no desire to be pregnant, to do so? It would seem that those incapable of getting pregnant actually care very little about the well being of those who can.

Hi Kim, it's a hard situation; I'm sorry you and your sister are going through it. I know I was more likely to listen to people who were patient and kind with me, because that made it easier for me to trust them. That person might not be someone as close to her as you because I think the illness is hardest for close relatives to deal with; so it can be easier for people a little less close to be patient. It was helpful to me when I started seeing a professional counselor after my second episode of being manic. It made me wish I'd done that the first time I got ill, but I hadn't realized the importance of it back then. Professional counselors are trained and skilled in how to relate effectively and for me that's worth paying for.

I am grateful that your are feeling much better and hope this is still true months after you made these changes. I continue to work with one med that helps me with CFS and recently went back on it. Some improvement but I remain in the struggle daily.

What a memory you made. Thanks four sharing it with others like me. Letting go is hard but watching this new unfolding part of his story, and your own, is true joy! Stanford is a great place. I hope his first term has been all he hoped for in going. You have him home in a few days to do all the catching up stuff.
