WCSE Concert June 5, 2009

The June concert of the WCSE (Windy City String Ensemble) June concert took place yesterday evening. Ben, Esther and Darcy played the third movement of Dvorak’s Terzetto, a piece for two violins and viola. The other video is of the WCSE playing Farandole by Bizet. Ben and Esther both had solos in it. Ben is concertmaster – he’s at the front on the left Esther is principal second – she’s facing the camera with a black headband on and is sometimes behind the conductor.

It was a neat surprise to hear Esther announced as Outstanding Student of the Year. In particular her teacher appreciates Esther’s musicianship and also what Esther does as Principal Second Violin. The second violin section has the newest youngest players in the orchestra and Esther works with them week after week at sectionals, helping them learn their parts.
