Ben participated in the Elmhurst Symphony Concerto Competition last Saturday.

We knew he didn’t win because they call the winners that day and he wasn’t called. Today he received his comments in the mail and the cover letter congratulated him on receiving an honorable mention (Ben gave me permission to open it while he’s away). The letter said they were all impressed by his high level of playing.

 

Ben’s IMEA district orchestra audition last fall went well enough that he qualified to go to Peoria yesterday to be part of the All State Orchestra that will play at the IMEA annual conference on Saturday.

Actually they divide the musicians who qualified to go into two orchestras based on auditions held today. Ben just got his audition results: he’s sitting 11th chair of the first violins in the Honors Orchestra (the better of the two orchestras). We’re driving to Peoria on Saturday to attend the concert.

 

My Crohn’s symptoms seem to have been a bit better over the last week or two, which is making me feel a little more hopeful. It gets discouraging having symptoms continue week after week, month after month. Continue reading »
