Esther’s school chamber music concert 2008

February 22nd, 2008  |  by Helen  |  published in General updates

Esther’s school chamber music concert was last night. It’s a student-led concert in which students perform whatever they wish.
Esther played an arrangement she made of the “Bewitched” theme for her and her friends (Esther is the violinist on the right):

Total Lunar Eclipse

February 21st, 2008  |  by Helen  |  published in General updates

Did you see the total eclipse of the moon last night? It was awesome!

The nearest book was one of my daughter’s: The Edge Chronicles: Beyond the Deep Woods by Paul Steward and Chris [...]

Ben played the last movement of the Brahm’s Violin Concerto in the Elmhurst Symphony Concerto Competition yesterday.
He played well but evidently didn”t win any of the prizes since they were calling the winners this afternoon and we didn’t hear anything. (Update: when Ben’s comments from the judges arrived we were pleased to find out he [...]

Snow and cold

February 9th, 2008  |  by Helen  |  published in General updates

We’ve had three snowstorms go through in the last eight days or so. The last one coated all the trees with snow - it was very pretty.

It’s been the cloudiest start to February since 1893 and tonight it’s going to get super-cold. The village decided not to salt side streets a couple of weeks [...]
