Maybe that’s not a good name for it, but anyway this is what I’m referring to:

If you find yourself having any power, give it away – i.e. use it to defend/protect/help those who are powerless.

When people hold onto power and use it to their advantage and the disadvantage of others, things get more and more out of balance. The only way to keep/restore balance is if those who have power give it away/use it to help the powerless.

If God exists, God is All-Powerful; so a fundamental question about God would be, what does God do with that power? Does God hold onto it or does God give it away?

I see the story of Jesus as being a story in which God gives his power away/uses it to help the powerless. A story in which God participates and leads the way in balances the equation.

That’s one of the things I like a lot about the story.

Beautifully said, Helen! And that message reminds me that if I am to truly follow Christ, I must be willing to give power away as well.
