Relationships
What am I?
A piece of trash under your feet
Something not worth a moment of your time?
In the silence
I wonder what I did
Is it me?
If it is you
be honest
as I am honest
and tell me the truth
Admit your own pain
blinds you to mine
but don’t just leave me hanging
don’t you know
I’m a human being too
I have feelings, you know
It doesn’t help me
to blame you
so why do you blame me?
So next time you take out the trash
don’t take me out too, OK?

Are you listening,
or just waiting for me to stop talking
to tell me about you?
Are you listening
or just thinking
of what to say
that will “fix my life”
so you can chalk me up
as your success story?
Are you listening
or just trying
to get away
you have better things to do.?
Will you make excuses and leave
if someone more “fun”
comes along?
Can’t you even
look me in the eye?
Would you please listen
and be sad with me
and be happy with me
so I know you care
that’s all I want;
no advice today please
I know it already
I’m doing my best
just listen, please?
